Description
The iconic jockstrap Bike. Large vintage pocket. High waist - 7.5 cm. Rear rubbers 1.8 cm wide.
The Jockstrap was invented in 1874 by C. F. Bennett of the Chicago sports company Sharp & Smith to provide comfort and support to cyclists working on the cobbled streets of Boston. It was first produced as the Bike Jockey Strap. In 1897, the newly founded Bike Web Company patented and began mass production. Later, the company became known as the Bike Company and the Bike Jockey Strap name was shortened to jock strap.
The Jock Strap Bike has been copied by many companies but has always been a market leader since its invention in 1874. To date, over 350 million units have been produced.
In 2001, the German company Meyer Marketing became the exclusive distributor of Bike Athletic in Europe. When Russell acquired Bike Athletic in 2003, it agreed to a request from Meyer Marketing to expand the jockstrap range by offering some models not only in black and white, but also red, blue and yellow.
In 2016, the Russell corporation decided to liquidate the BIKE brand. Under the agreement, Meyer Marketing took over the production and distribution of original jockstraps and other sports protection products. From 2017, all Bike products bear the MM trademark, maintaining their originality and quality.
